How payment, ownership and cancellation work.

Plain-English terms for every Fieldwork project. If anything here is unclear, ask before you pay and we'll put the answer in writing.

Who we are

Fieldwork (getfieldwork.org) is an independent web design studio run by Lucius Laylee. We build and rebuild websites for contractors and home-service businesses. We are not affiliated with Fieldwork AI or getfieldwork.ai.

1. Free audit and preview

The audit and the working homepage preview are free. If you decide not to go ahead, you owe nothing.

2. Your site in 1 week

  • On every plan, we finish your site within 1 week of the day we have everything we need from you.
  • That means your approved preview, your logo, your list of services and the areas you cover, the photos you want to use, and access to your domain (and your current site, for a rebuild).
  • We'll tell you in writing when the week starts, so you know your launch date.

3. One-time plans: Starter, Growth and Premium

  • Starter is $997, Growth is $1,997 and Premium starts at $3,497. We confirm the Premium price in writing before you pay.
  • You pay 50% when you approve the preview and we start the full build, and the other 50% when the finished site is ready, before it goes live.
  • Each plan includes what's listed for it on our plans. Starter includes 2 rounds of revisions. Changes after launch are covered by Website Care or quoted before we do them.

4. Fieldwork Monthly

  • $0 down, then $349 a month for 12 months. It includes the Growth site, hosting, Website Care and Google Business Profile updates.
  • After 12 payments the site is yours, and you continue on Website Care at $99 a month (see section 6).
  • If you want to stop before 12 payments, you can pay the remaining balance and the site is yours. If you don't, we take the site offline. Your domain stays yours either way.

5. Who owns what

  • Your domain is always yours. If we register it for you, it's registered in your name and we hand over access whenever you ask.
  • Your website: on a one-time plan, the design, text and files are yours once you've paid in full. On Fieldwork Monthly, they're yours after 12 payments or a buyout.
  • Moving it: once the site is yours, we'll send you the files or help move it to another host on request.
  • Your content: logos, photos and text you give us stay yours. You confirm you have the right to use them.
  • Our portfolio: we may show your site as an example of our work. Ask us not to and we won't.

6. Hosting and Website Care

  • Website Care is $99 a month, month to month. It covers hosting, updates, uptime monitoring, small edits and monthly performance checks.
  • You can cancel Website Care any time before your next billing date. If you cancel, we'll help move your site to hosting in your own account.

7. Refunds

  • The preview is free, so there's nothing to refund if you don't go ahead.
  • The 50% deposit pays for work on the full build and isn't refundable once that work has started.
  • If we can't deliver the site we agreed, we refund what you've paid for work we didn't deliver.
  • Monthly and Website Care payments aren't refunded for a month that has already started.

8. What we don't promise

We build sites to bring in more calls, but we can't guarantee Google rankings, a number of leads or sales. Audit scores are estimates based on an automated review of your public homepage.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in place when you start your project is the one that applies to it.
